In The Depths Of Solitude
by Tupac Shakur
i exist in the depths of solitude
pondering my true goal
trying 2 find peace of mind
and still preserve my soul
constantly yearning 2 be accepted
and from all receive respect
never comprising but sometimes risky
and that is my only regret
a young heart with an old soul
how can there be peace
how can i be in the depths of solitude
when there r 2 inside of me
this duo within me causes
the perfect oppurtunity
2 learn and live twice as fast
as those who accept simplicity
pondering my true goal
trying 2 find peace of mind
and still preserve my soul
constantly yearning 2 be accepted
and from all receive respect
never comprising but sometimes risky
and that is my only regret
a young heart with an old soul
how can there be peace
how can i be in the depths of solitude
when there r 2 inside of me
this duo within me causes
the perfect oppurtunity
2 learn and live twice as fast
as those who accept simplicity
"i exist in the depths of solitude
ReplyDeletepondering my true goal" - He think about what he should do.
"trying 2 find peace of mind
and still preserve my soul" - He has conflicting thoughts / viewpoints
"constantly yearning 2 be accepted
and from all receive respect" - He wants to prove himself to others and gain "respect."
"and that is my only regret" -could mean two things, he regrets he feels he has to prove himself, or when he does try to prove himself and it can be "risky."
"a young heart with an old soul" -Hes stating he has expirience, with what - isn't stated.
"how can there be peace
how can i be in the depths of solitude
when there r 2 inside of me" -again tries to better define his conflict with questions , giving no insight as to what the conflicting subject actually is.
"this duo within me causes
the perfect oppurtunity
2 learn and live twice as fast
as those who accept simplicity" - his ego steps through here merely saying that he himself is superior to a nameless group of people who "accept simplicity."
His resolution to "pondering" his "true goal" is halted by his mind finally accepting his limitations as his ego steps in to reassure him and let the audience know that he is superior to a group of people that "accept simplicity." All definitions of rhetoric come to mind! Hah cheers all!
